Version: 3D

Q: When I load a 3D model into my scene, it appears solid black.

A: Models must be illuminated with a light source, otherwise they will appear solid black. Light sources are added using the Light Editor as described in the help documentation. When loading models into the Model Library, it helps to work with a show that already has lights setup so you can see the models when working in the Model Library. The show called "Demo: Effect Testing" that installs with ShowSim is a good one for viewing models when populating the model library, since it already has light sources setup. You may have to back up the viewpoint to see larger models however, as the Effect Testing show has the viewpoint set rather close to the middle in order to see the smaller models like trees and mortar racks.
