This is a short report that gives some basic statistics for your show, such as location,
date, duration, cue count, shell count etc.
A Product Summary breaks the shell count down by size, and also
includes the number of racks in each size that will be required to setup the
show. This report would make a good “cover
sheet” to include with other reports if desired.
A Note on Rack Count
One of the more tedious and error prone tasks of laying out a show is trying to figure out
how many racks are required. If the rack count were calculated by simply
dividing the shell count by the number of tubes per rack for each size, then
angled racks or firing positions separated by distance would cause the
calculation to under estimate the number of racks needed. This is because angled racks often have
leftover guns that don’t get used, and these guns can’t be used for a shell
that needs to fire straight up. Groups
of racks separated by distance can also result in leftover guns at one position
that can not be used by shells intended to fire at a different position. The simple calculation mentioned above does
not account for these scenarios, thus will frequently result in a rack
shortage.
ShowSim takes the headache out of rack counting for you, with an advanced algorithm that
accounts for angled racks and firing positions when calculating rack counts. However, the rack counts for your show can not be
displayed on the summary report becasue they will vary depending on what kind of setup you use. If you group racks around each module to create many
small “islands” of racks that can’t be shared between modules ( a method sometimes
used in small manually fired shows ) then the rack count will be different than if you
setup your show by blocking all racks of the same size together
into long rows, then running modules down the length of the rows. Thus you must print the setup report specific to the
way you setup your shows and then obtain the rack count information from those reports.
Note: in the Setup reports, rack counts are broken down by position, module or
segment (depending on the report type).
